This blog focuses on a wide range of issues such as sustainable development in general and how the “plan of action for people, planet and prosperity” is being put into effect, nuclear disarmament with a view to ushering in a world free of nuclear weapons, culture of peace, the United Nations and other lesser known inter-governmental organizations, the Indo-Pacific region as well as South Asia and India in particular. Almost all the articles in this blog have appeared on IDN-InDepthNews, a flagship agency of the International Press Syndicate (INPS) of which I am a co-founder, international correspondent and Director-General. I have been working as a journalist for more than 55 years.
INPS is a global news group first established in Canada and Germany in March 2009 as Globalom Media Information, Communication and Publishing Agency.
INPS also has issue focussed websites SDGs for All and Toward A Nuclear Free World, and online and print publications ‘Striving for People, Planet and Peace’ and ‘Toward A World Without Nuclear Weapons’, as well as weekly newsletters ‘UN INSIDER’ and ‘Beyond Breaking the News‘, monthly ‘SDGs For All‘ and ‘Beyond Nuclear Non-Proliferation‘.
I and my colleagues in Asia, Africa, Europe, the U.S., and Latin America and the Caribbean would very much appreciate your support for our low-budget journalistic venture.
A little bit more about me: The Federal President of Germany awarded me in June 1996 the Federal Cross on Ribbon for promoting international understanding in my role as co-founder and Executive President of Global Cooperation Council, established as North-South Forum in February 1983 in Bonn, the then capital of Federal Republic of Germany.
I was the first journalist from a developing land, who was elected in 1981 as President of the Foreign Press Association (VAP), then based in Bonn. I was re-elected in the following two years. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of VAP I co-published a collection of essays titled Der gefesselte Riese – Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland aus der Sicht ausländischer Korrespondenten (The Giant in Chains – Foreign Correspondents’ View of the Federal Republic of Germany).
I have also served as European Director of IPS-Inter Press Service News Agency, headed the Germany bureau of IPS between 1987 and 2002. Until 2008 I was Director of IPS-Inter Press Service Europe and in-charge of coordinating the Euro-Mediterranean network of the global news agency. I was Director of IPS-Inter Press Service Deutschland under the umbrella of Global Cooperation Council before beingappointed as IPS Director General from April 2014 to August 2015.
